Dear Minister,
ASSC – Local Authority Short-Term Let Licensing Policies: Illegalities
We wish to add our support to the attached letter from the ASSC.
We are a holiday let agency based in the Spey Valley and although we are not one of the larger agencies we feel our service is critical to the owners we serve who are looking for a more personal service. We employ 5 staff.
Firstly it seems unfair to have placed this burden on local authorities that are already stretched to breaking point.
With years of experience in the short term rental industry across Scotland it is clear that we do need to regulate the industry to ensure Scotland is offering a safe, secure and professional offering to its many tourists each year and not muddy this with trying to solve a housing crisis at the same time.
The ASSC seems best placed to constructively move this forward along with the industry and ministers to find a resolution quickly to ensure the Scottish Tourist industry is not impacted further and we can continue to all trade legally and uphold our many bookings for 2024 and 2025 and support our Scottish economy.
We can’t stress enough how important it is for us all to work together constructively and find a solution soon to ensure the we do not lose tourists, properties and money from the economy.
Yours Sincerely
Andrew Saunders
