The Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) and the Professional Association of Self-Caterers UK (PASC UK) are delighted to announce a new collaborative partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which aims to strengthen the representation of the self-catering sector across the UK. This partnership is rooted in shared values, including mutual respect, transparency, and a commitment to working together for the benefit of their members and the broader industry.
Both associations, representing a diverse range of self-catering businesses, understand the importance of uniting efforts to tackle the common challenges facing the sector. The MoU sets out a framework for collaboration on key issues such as regulatory changes, industry representation, and public relations, with a clear focus on working collegiately with governments and local authorities to safeguard the future of the self-catering industry.
Recognising that the self-catering sector faces growing regulatory and legislative pressures, both associations have committed to developing joint strategies in response to shared threats. This includes a coordinated approach to lobbying, ensuring that the sector’s voice is heard by policymakers and elected representatives. By pooling resources and expertise, ASSC and PASC UK aim to enhance their influence on critical issues such as taxation, visitor levies, and licensing regulations.
Both organisations have a track record of successful collaboration, as demonstrated by their joint efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and campaigns addressing key regulatory matters. This partnership formalises their commitment to continue working together to support the resilience and growth of the self-catering sector.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared vision for the future of the self-catering industry. ASSC and PASC UK are committed to data sharing, joint research initiatives, and member resource development, ensuring that both associations and their members benefit from valuable insights and guidance. Collaborative public relations strategies will amplify shared messages, particularly around major events like the UK budget or significant regulatory changes.
Fiona Campbell, CEO of the ASSC said:
“By formalising this partnership, we are sending a clear message that the self-catering sector across the UK is stronger when we work together. This MoU reflects our shared values and our determination to address the challenges we face with a united front.”
Both associations are committed to working collaboratively with national and local governments, fostering a positive dialogue to shape policies that support the sustainable growth of the self-catering sector. By presenting a united voice, ASSC and PASC UK seek to build on already strong relationships with policymakers, ensuring that the sector’s unique needs are considered in the development of regulations.
Alistair Handyside, Executive Chair of PASC UK, said:
“Through this partnership, we will continue to advocate for the best interests of our members across the UK, ensuring that local and national authorities understand the vital role the self-catering sector plays in the tourism economy.”
The partnership between ASSC and PASC UK marks a significant step forward in joint efforts to support and strengthen the self-catering sector. With a focus on collaboration, shared values, and a commitment to working with key stakeholders, both associations are confident that this partnership will deliver meaningful results for their members and the wider industry.
