Scotland Loves Local Week

Take part in Scotland Loves Local Week

The first Scotland Loves Local Week takes place from August 28th – and you can get involved.

Councils, community organisations, Business Improvement Districts and individual enterprises are being urged to organise – and take part in – activities in their area.

Scotland Loves Local Week will highlight the importance of people choosing local to the future of the communities in which they live and work.

Organised by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) – the organisation behind the Love Local campaign – it’s a brilliant opportunity to highlight the critical importance of people getting behind businesses in their area, supporting the jobs and livelihoods of their neighbours, friends and family.

The week will see politicians visit initiatives in their constituencies, as well as a number of events across the country carrying Scotland Loves Local branding.

And there is still time for you to arrange something in your area.

To find out how you can get involved, go to: www.lovelocal.scot/scotland-loves-local-week

Downloadable assets to promote the #ScotlandLovesLocal and #ChooseLocal messaging can also be found there, along with promotional material which can be edited for your area.

Popular STV weatherman Sean Batty is a Scotland Loves Local ambassador.

He said: “This is your chance to shout about how great your area is.

“The team at STP will be working with people across the country to highlight some of the incredible work ongoing to create communities fit for the future.

“There are some great things happening and we are keen to showcase them.”

Scotland Loves Local is the drive for people to build stronger, more sustainable futures for their community by supporting the businesses in their area, potentially injecting millions of pounds into regional economies. It is spearheaded by STP with support from the Scottish Government.

Born as the nation emerged from the first Covid-19 lockdown in summer 2020, Scotland Loves Local has evolved into a campaign for longer-term good – tackling not just the ongoing recovering from the pandemic, but encouraging support for local businesses through the cost of living crisis and supporting local responses to the climate emergency.

In a recent survey of STP members and stakeholders, three-quarters of businesses said the support of local people is critical to their survival as they battle the continued unprecedented challenges.
