The Scottish Government have made changes to rules on social gatherings as part of their review of coronavirus regulations. A maximum of six people from two different households will be permitted to meet in indoor and outdoor settings. Children aged 12 and under are not included in this number.
As the routemap makes clear, this will apply in all locations, including hospitality settings. The changes will come into effect on Monday 14th September
The changes to the numbers permitted in indoor settings will have implications for self-catering bookings across Scotland. As you will understand, this is a fast-moving situation and the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) will endeavour to provide you with further information on the changes.
Commenting on the news, the Chief Executive of the ASSC Fiona Campbell said:
“This is a particularly worrying development for Scotland’s £723m self-catering sector. We worked tirelessly in terms of our preparations for reopening – including the production of robust cleaning protocols which were endorsed by government – after what has been a challenging time for Scotland’s tourism industry.”
“The situation regarding coronavirus remains fluid and the Scottish Government must follow the science. These changes were announced at relatively short notice, and will come into effect this Monday, and will have a significant impact on businesses in terms of bookings in self-catering properties. We await further details on the changes.”
“However, we would emphasise that Scotland’s self-catering industry will continue to welcome guests to our properties, offering safe, memory-making experiences and showcasing all the very best that this country has to offer.”
