Access to the upper floor is via a contemporary open-tread staircase leading to a gallery hallway that looks down into the lounge below. This in turn leads to the large twin bedroom with wood flooring and southerly aspect. This bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom with shower over.

The heating system for the Cottage is fired from the boiler contained in the main house but can be controlled independently.

Kinlochlaich House, Appin, Argyll

Kinlochlaich House is a B listed Georgian Gothic style house dating from about 1800, but with some parts of the house having much earlier origins. The main part of the house is over three floors in addition to a cellar. There are three individual apartments, one within the main house and two of which form part of the original tackman’s house.

Airdeny Chalets occupies a magnificent location, about a mile to the south of Taynuilt. It is set in about 3.5 acres with beautiful uninterrupted open views of Ben Cruachan and Glen Etive.

There are seven timber built chalets in all, four with two bedrooms and three with three bedrooms.  Airdeny Lodge, the owner’s accommodation, is on site and has a reception area for the chalet visitors.  It was built in 2008 and has possibilities for B & B accommodation as well as excellent accommodation for the owner.

Although set amongst some of Scotland’s most dramatic scenery, Airdeny is only a short distance from the A85 and there is a railway station at Taynuilt with services into Glasgow for mainline connections to London. Taynuilt provides essential shopping requirements, a medical practice, a primary school, a golf course and a sports centre. Oban is the principal shopping centre for the area and provides excellent schooling and recreational and entertainment facilities, along with ferry services to the islands of the Inner and Outer Hebrides.

Argyll offers a full range of outdoor activities for visitors. There is spectacular hill walking, climbing and mountaineering in the area with skiing at Aonach Mor (near Fort William) and at Glen Coe. Loch Awe holds a variety of fresh water fish and is famed for its huge ferox trout. The loch also offers options for boating and water sports. The west coast is well known for its exciting sailing and varied coastline.

Having owned the chalet park for 13 years, I have decided that it is now time to retire and let someone else take over the reins. I have enjoyed building up the business, building three new chalet s and my house.  There is still room for expansion for anyone taking over the business.

Taynuilt is a great place to live. I was made welcome very quickly and  have made many friends. I wish the prospective new owners all the best and hope that their time at Airdeny will be as enjoyable as mine.
