ASSC Chief Executive Fiona Campbell Marks 10 Years of Leadership

Today (3rd February 2025) marks a significant milestone for the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) as Chief Executive Fiona Campbell celebrates ten years at the helm of the organisation. Over the past decade, Fiona has been a steadfast advocate for Scotland’s self-catering sector, working tirelessly to ensure that the voices of small and micro-sized businesses across the country are heard at the highest levels.

Under Fiona’s leadership, the ASSC has navigated numerous challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and legislative changes affecting the sector. Her unwavering dedication has played a crucial role in shaping policy discussions and supporting self-catering businesses through times of uncertainty.

Reflecting on Fiona’s leadership, Iain Muirhead, Chair of the ASSC, paid tribute to her commitment and influence:

Iain Muirhead, Chair of the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers, said:

“Fiona has been a dedicated servant of self-catering and Scottish tourism over the past decade, with her influential and powerful advocacy ensuring the voice of our membership is heard by opinion makers and decision takers. Her leadership of the ASSC has been transformative, helping to navigate the sector through some of the most difficult circumstances it has ever faced – and she undoubtedly possesses the energy and enthusiasm to deal with both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. On behalf of the Board, I wish to sincerely thank Fiona for all of her endeavours and we look forward to working together in the years ahead as we strive to build a sustainable and prosperous future for our industry.”

Fiona Campbell, CEO of the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers, said:

“It has been an immense privilege to represent our vital self-catering industry for 10 years. The many small and micro-sized businesses that comprise our membership are a tremendous asset to local economies throughout Scotland and their cause continues to motivate me to do all I can to protect them. My time at the helm of the ASSC has not been without its challenges, be it a global pandemic closing our businesses, or continued legislative overreach from government, which has meant this decade has flown by! However, through the collective work of a small yet diligent team, not to mention our incredible membership, I have been supported and empowered in my efforts.”

As Fiona embarks on her next chapter with the ASSC, she remains dedicated to championing the interests of self-catering businesses across Scotland, ensuring they continue to thrive in an ever-evolving tourism landscape.
