Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and social enterprises in the tourism and perishable goods sectors across Scotland’s islands are now eligible to apply for vital financial support through the Islands Business Resilience Fund, delivered by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) on behalf of the Scottish Government.
The fund aims to bolster the resilience of island-based businesses operating within the visitor economy and perishable goods sectors who have suffered from prolonged disruption to ferry services connecting them to mainland Scotland.
Grants of between £3,000 and £35,000 are available for eligible SMEs operating on Arran, Benbecula, Berneray, Colonsay, Eriskay, Grimsay, North Uist, and South Uist.
To qualify, applicants must have had an annual turnover of at least £22,000 in their last accounting period, as evidenced by approved annual accounts or, for the self-employed, income and expenditure declared to HMRC in January 2025.
Applications are now open and will close at 12 noon on Monday 1st September 2025. Importantly, this is not a first-come, first-served fund; all applications will be assessed on merit.
