Self-catering businesses operating in South Lanarkshire are being encouraged to take part in a public consultation reviewing the council’s short-term let (STL) licensing scheme.
South Lanarkshire Council has launched its review of the scheme, with the consultation running from 29 December 2025 to 24 January 2026. The outcome of this review will influence how short-term lets are licensed and regulated locally, making it important that professional self-catering operators have their say.
The Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers is urging members and operators in the area to respond, highlighting the importance of ensuring that licensing arrangements are fair, proportionate and workable for responsible businesses.
The consultation provides an opportunity for operators to share their experiences of the current licensing process and to highlight where improvements could be made to better support compliant, high-quality self-catering accommodation.
Members can find full details of the consultation and submit their response via the South Lanarkshire Council website before the 24 January 2026 deadline.
ASSC will continue to engage with local authorities across Scotland to ensure the voice of the self-catering sector is heard as licensing schemes evolve.
