ASSC Continue Lobbying Efforts on STL Licensing and Planning

In his first meetings with stakeholders, the ASSC was pleased at the opportunity to meet with the Scottish Government’s new Minister for Housing Paul McLennan MSP to discuss short-term let regulation.

We are grateful for his commitment to help resolve the outstanding issues relating to short-term let licensing and we welcome the invitation to be part of the 2024 review.

The ASSC will continue to raise the issue of short-term let licensing as a matter of priority with relevant Ministers and further such meetings are planned in due course. In addition, we will respond to emerging regulatory threats such as any reassessment of self-catering thresholds for NDR.

The ASSC believes that any meaningful reset in relations between government and business must include a rethink on short-term let licensing as the current regulations remain unfit for purpose, will cost jobs and damage Scotland’s vital tourism sector.
