Joining the ASSC Community: What It Means for You and the Self-Catering Sector

About The ASSC 

As an ASSC member, you are part of a membership community representing thousands of properties across Scotland. The ASSC is the leading professional body exclusively focused on the self-catering industry in Scotland. 

The association is led by Chief Executive Officer Fiona Campbell and supported by a dedicated Board of Directors and executive team. This Board meets regularly to support the growth and development of both the association and Scotland’s self-catering sector. 

Members play a vital role in shaping the ASSC by electing or re-electing the Board of Directors during the AGM. Members are also given the opportunity to review financial reports and vote on key motions. Additionally, members are encouraged to actively participate in the association by standing for election to the Board, ensuring a diverse and representative leadership team.

  • Advocacy & Representation: We work with governments, local authorities, and tourism leaders to address challenges like Short-Term Let Licensing, Furnished Holiday Let status, visitor levies, business rates and more. 
  • Highlighting the Importance of the Sector: We tirelessly advocate for fair and proportionate legislation, emphasising the essential role self-catering plays in Scotland’s tourism economy. In 2024 alone, we featured in over 200 media pieces (including radio and TV), showcasing the sector’s benefits to local communities, job creation, and the wider tourism industry. 
  • Evidence-Based Action: Using insights from member surveys and research (e.g., the BiGGAR reports), we lobby effectively to support and protect the sector.
