The ASSC has been made aware of a growing number of self-catering operators being removed from the Non-Domestic Rates (NDR) register — and in some cases taken to Tribunal — for allegedly failing to provide evidence of 70 days’ occupancy for the 2023–2024 period.
Alarmingly, many report that they were never contacted or asked by their local Assessor to submit this evidence prior to action being taken.
The ASSC is now urgently seeking legal advice on the lawfulness of this process and is stepping in to support and represent affected members.
To assess the scale and impact of this issue, we are asking all self-catering operators who may have been affected to complete a short survey. Please include your business contact details so that we can follow up directly with support.
This survey will take just a few minutes of your time to complete.
