Falkirk Council has launched an early engagement survey on the possible introduction of a Visitor Levy in the Falkirk area.
Under legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament in 2024, councils can apply a percentage charge on paid overnight stays. Proposed amendments may also allow councils to set the levy as a fixed amount. Any funds raised would be used to support services and facilities used by visitors.
This is an important opportunity for self-catering operators to share their views at an early stage. Feedback from this survey will help shape a draft proposal, with a full public consultation expected to follow. A final decision is anticipated towards the end of 2026.
We strongly encourage all ASSC members operating in the Falkirk area and beyond to respond and ensure the sector’s voice is heard.
